
Freedom Fighter Suresh Chandra Bhowmik
Place of Birth: Village – Alinagar (Hossanabad), Police Station – Laksham, District – Tripura (now in Bangladesh).
He passed away at the age of 82 at his own residence, 27 Broad Street, Kolkata.

In 1932, during the famous Hossanabad Gunfire Case, his father Krishnasundar Bhowmik and elder brother Rajendra Ranjan Bhowmik, along with others, were imprisoned in Krishnanagar jail. The entire family endured great suffering and hardship.
The colonial authorities confiscated their home and property, forcing the family to move to Kolkata in 1935.
Suresh Bhowmik spent a long period of his youth in Alipur Central Jail due to his involvement in the independence struggle. Later in life, he dedicated himself to social service and was involved in multiple public welfare activities.
While in Kolkata, he became a life member of the Red Cross and actively promoted Hindu-Muslim unity. He was also a member of the Anushilan Samiti (a revolutionary organization). Later, he engaged in political and social activities as a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), working for social upliftment.

Passing Away of Veteran Freedom Fighter
Kolkata: Veteran freedom fighter Suresh Chandra Bhowmik passed away on the 3rd of June. He was 82 years old at the time of his death.
Suresh Bhowmik was born in Hossanabad village, Tripura district (now in Bangladesh). His father was the renowned freedom fighter Krishnasundar Bhowmik. Inspired by the independence struggle, Suresh Bhowmik devoted his life to social and political work.
Even beyond his role in the independence movement, he was active in social service. He leaves behind two sons and two daughters. At the time of his death, he was a life member of the Red Cross Society in Kolkata and was involved in communal harmony initiatives between Hindus and Muslims.

Memorial Meeting
Respected social worker and freedom fighter Suresh Chandra Bhowmik passed away on the 3rd of June, 1999 (20th Jaistha, 1406 Bengali year) at 9:40 AM.
On Sunday, 13th June, a memorial service and condolence gathering will be held at his residence, 27 Broad Street, Kolkata-19.
Family members, relatives, and well-wishers are requested to attend and pay homage.
In memory of Suresh Chandra Bhowmik, a memorial meeting will be organized on Sunday, 13th June, 8 AM, under the initiative of “All India Freedom Fighters’ Organization.”
